Life-Saving Medical Alert Buttons

Medical alert Buttons are relatively new devices.

That came on the scene several years ago; originally, they were meant to be used by older people who were living alone and might fall or otherwise injure themselves, but not be able to get to a phone and dial for help. This can be disastrous, not least because if you can’t reach a phone, you can’t call for help. If you live by yourself, this can have dire consequences indeed, since it may mean that no one even knows you’re in trouble for hours, days, or longer. And although they are indeed marketed to older people, anyone with a need for them can use them.

Medical alert buttons provide the perfect solution

if you may need this kind of assistance, because they alleviate the need to be by a phone should you fall or be injured, and yet still give you the ability to call for help. The medical alert button is a simple device that you wear around your neck or on your wrist. When you push this button, you can summon help from police, fire, emergency, or your doctor — or a family member, as you choose.
Most often, Medical alert Buttons are provided to you as part of a medical alert service. With this service, when the medical alert button is pushed, a number is dialed at the service, and someone on the other end of the line requests to speak with the owner of the medical alert button. If the person wearing the medical alert button is conscious, he or she can talk to the operator on the other end of the line, and request help as needed, such as from fire, paramedics, personal doctor, ambulance, and so on.
If the person wearing the medical alert button is not conscious, the operator on the other end of the line will usually simply summon 911 so that help is dispatched to assist the person.

Many of these medical alert buttons can also be programmed to contain more than just one number, such one that will dial the service directly or that will dial 911 in the event of emergency. Many of these devices can also be programmed with more than one number so that if you wish, when you push the button, you can choose whom the device calls.

The medical alert button has revolutionized

what it means to  ”live alone.” Now, if you are getting older or have an illness whereby you may be unsteady on your feet or could otherwise need help, you no longer have to live in assisted care or give up your independence; instead, you can simply wear a medical alert button so that you can summon the help you need if and when you need it, instantly.

This gives both you and loved ones peace of mind if you are in fact the person in need and services; if you have an older relative or friend, or one that has an illness or disability that may be worrisome but yet does not require full-time care, it can be a lifesaver as well to be able to retain independence, enjoy life, and yet have help available instantly, whenever you need it.
